Happy Halloween!!!

The Bunratty Castle

We just arrived in Bunratty outside of Shannon. We are staying at a cool hotel called the Bunratty Castle hotel (across the street from the Bunratty Castle) The weather is cold and rainy, basically what you would expect it to be. We checked into the hotel and then headed to Dirty Nelleys pub which is one of the oldest pubs in Ireland. We had lunch, a few pints and now I am ready for a nap. Finn is snoozing right now, he is feeling a bit better.

Last night was fun we went out in Galway for a few pints (and cape coders, who knew that drink was big over here but it is so I drank three). It was graduation at the College of Galway so the the pubs were packed last night. It was really fun, we weren't out to late but we sure did pack in a few drinks!!!! I am hurting today I am not going to lie. And this weather just makes you want to sleep all day. We are going to try to catch some live music tonight. I can't believe it is our last night in Ireland. 

I am looking forward to getting back home and hanging low all weekend. We miss Brady (oh Brad). I hope she is still being good at Aunt Ginger's house!

Green as far as the eye can see....

Yesterday we traveled from Killarney to Galway, it was the most beautiful drive. The coast of Ireland is just amazing, it is so green. A lot of the small towns haven't changed much, they still have the original straw roofs just like you've see in the pictures. We stopped at this famous pub on the way MacGannons (i think). The owner of the pub lived in Boston for a while and owned a few bars in Boston (have to check with Jeff on he names). But I guess musicians from all over stop to play at this pub, it is known for the famous singers that have performed throughout the years. 

Finn has a little cold :( it is so sad when he coughs and sneezes. I stayed in last night after we arrived in Galway so Finn could get a good night sleep. He seems a bit better today. Liam's brothers and parents took a ride further up the coast but we stayed back so Finn could relax and get some good naps today (he is napping now thank god). Galway is cool, it is a big city but not as big as Dublin. It is more working class then Dublin and Killarney but it is right on the coast, a very pretty site. Our hotel is cool, very modern.

The Homeland

I finally wrestled the computer away from our favorite blogger, Courtney P.  We have had an amazing couple of days with many highlights.  First off, the Tierney boys decided to grow mustaches for our trip ala Uncle Peter and Richard circa 1970.  I have to say I felt pretty manly, kind of like a young Burt Reynolds.  It was a little awkward as we met new people on our trip and we had these hideous mustaches.  

We had a great couple of days in Dublin.  Friday night, Pat , Tim, my Dad and I all went out to kick off our trip.  We drank at a place called the Hairy Lemon.  We heard the story behind why it was named that and quite honestly still do not understand.  The 4 of us discuss and dissected the issues of the world over Guiness and Bushmills.  Once we got home, we finally found out that the Red Sox won Thursday night and decided it was a good idea to go back out.  On Sturday night, Courtney and I went out in Dublin to celebrate the Twins 31st birthday.  There was a lot of Jameson, Irish and American music and of course Guiness.  When we got back to the hotel, we followed Game 6 on ESPN Gamecast until 430 AM.  Not really the best idea......

We got to Killarney yesterday and have been having a great time.  Despite the vicious hangovers, we had a great drive down here.  Our driver , Paddy is great and has given us insight on the irish culture.  For example, he told us about the World's shortest St Paddy's day parade in Drippsey, Ireland. It is literally about 10 yards between the two pubs in this small town.  Paddy looks a lot like Obi Wan Kenobi which makes me feel like good.  Tomorrow we are taking a ferry over to Galway where we will stay the next couple of nights.

Red Sox lose...

Well needless to say Liam is not very happy this morning about the outcome of the game last night. Tough loss. The good news is we are in Ireland. To next year....

Next stop Killarney

Well after a busy two days in Dublin we have arrived in Killarney which is amazing. It is a city but much smaller than Dublin and still really quaint. The hotel the Killarney Plaza that we are staying at is really nice and it is at the top end of the town. Once we arrived we got cleaned up, Finn hadn't taken a bath in 3 days, he stunk :) And then walked around and got some dinner. We are in for an early night, last night was pretty crazy. 

Liam's parents stayed in with Finn last night so we could go out on the town with Pat and Tim for their birthday. Dublin is crazy, I couldn't get over how busy it was, there are so many people. We kind of got off to a late start after touring the Guinness Brewery and then sight seeing all day. We started out at a smaller pub for some food near Stephens Green which is a very cool area, not far from Trinity. And then we took a short cab ride over to Temple Bar area, which was just packed. The bars are funny because all they play are old American music, I almost died when they were playing a remix of Tina Turner and the girls were LOVING it. We drank lots a beer and I think we may have had a few shots of Jameson if I remember correctly. The boys stayed up until 4:0o am following the red sox game online. Nothing changes!!!!

We are off to the Ring of Kerry tomorrow, I can't wait. Oh, I forgot to mention the bus we rented. It is an new Mercedes mini van, it is pretty cool. We have the car seat all set up, it is perfect.  On our way here today we drove through Cork and stopped at Saint Finnbar's Cathedral which was a beautiful church, it was going through some renovations so we couldn't go in but we got a great picture of Finn standing outside next to some statues of St. Finnbar. 

Off to bed, more tomorrow. Hopefully we can get our pictures put on a disk tomorrow so I can upload some photos.

We are in Ireland, pictures to follow soon... but things are going well. Finn got about 2 hours sleep  on the way here but once we got here Liam's parents have been all over him :) Dublin is awesome, we are having a great time. A little wasted but that is Ireland for you. Tim wants to "Blog it out". 

Tim says he's rich, and good looking... more to follow. We leave Dublin tomorrow to head to Killarney, pictures to follow tomorrow. Happy 31st birthday Pat & Tim. 

Getting ready for Ireland

We are exhausted but excited to head to Ireland tomorrow. We leave Atlanta at 8:30 pm and will arrive in Dublin at 9:30 pm. It is going to be a long flight but hopefully Finnbar James will be a good boy. He has no idea what he is in for. We will try to continue blogging while on our trip when we can so keep checking in.
